Acting Fundamentals and Shakespeare (3rd-12th)
with Marcia Barryte
Ages: 8 - 18
All The World's A Stage!
In this fun 13-week class you will learn some new words, meet some fascinating characters and experience a world of stories that have survived over 500 years of history. Shakespeare's comedies, tragedies, romances, and histories contain storylines, that still speak wisely to us today. This course will go from insults to compliments, Elizabethan style, through history, language, conflict, resolution, emotions, and life advice. These are acting classes that will require full physical participation. Building on selections from A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Julius Caesar, students will develop an understanding of verse, character, and stagecraft while discovering the joy of bringing Shakespeare’s words to life. The course culminates in two short play performances, giving students the opportunity to share their learning and creativity with an audience.
